5. 意大利6.5級(jí)地震

最近這幾個(gè)月，意大利似乎是和“地震”脫不開關(guān)系了。當(dāng)?shù)貢r(shí)間30日早上，意大利中部地區(qū)再次發(fā)生里氏6.5級(jí)地震。雖然目前還沒有有人因地震遇難的消息，地震只造成了20人受傷，但這次地震是意大利從1980年以來遭遇的“最強(qiáng)一震”。

A series of major earthquakes struck Central Italy between the Marche and Umbria regions in October 2016. The third quake on October 30 the largest in Italy in 36 years, since the 1980 Irpinia earthquake.

A magnitude 5.5 earthquake struck 8 km (5 mi) east southeast of Sellano on 26 October at 19:11 local time (17:11 UTC)at a depth of 10 km (6 mi).The earthquake was also felt in the city of Rome.In the region of Marche some houses collapsed, Italian media reported. There were also power failures and the telephone lines were interrupted.

The quakes occurred in a seismic gap which is located between the areas hit by the 2016 August earthquake and the one in Umbria and Marche of 1997. In that gap no strong earthquake happened for more than 100 years until 2016.

As the process of faulting along the chain of the Apennine Mountains is a relatively recent one in geological terms, starting 500,000 years ago, the faults are more irregular, so more shaking occurs due to foreshocks according to seismologist Ross Stein from Stanford University. In this case the destructive shock on 26 October was preceded by the foreshock by two hours, causing people to leave their homes and be safer when the larger shock occurred.

10月29日，《南極海洋生物資源養(yǎng)護(hù)公約》的24個(gè)簽字國和歐洲聯(lián)盟經(jīng)過多年討論，終于同意在南極辟設(shè)全球最大的海洋保護(hù)區(qū)。保護(hù)區(qū)在羅斯海上，面積相當(dāng)于英國、德國與法國面積總和。

在俄羅斯改變其反對(duì)立場后，《南極海洋生物資源養(yǎng)護(hù)公約》的24個(gè)簽字國和歐洲聯(lián)盟同意在南極辟設(shè)全球最大的海洋保護(hù)區(qū)，保護(hù)區(qū)內(nèi)禁止捕魚35年。

The Convention on the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources, also Commission on the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources, and CCAMLR, is part of the Antarctic Treaty System. The Convention was opened for signature on 1 August 1980 and entered into force on 7 April 1982 by the Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources, headquartered in Tasmania, Australia. The goal is to preserve marine life and environmental integrity in and near Antarctica.

It was established in large part to concerns that an increase in krill catches in the Southern Ocean could have a serious impact on populations of other marine life which are dependent upon krill for food. It was signed by 14 states and has been ratified by 35 states and the European Community.

In 1989, CCAMLR set up the Ecosystem Monitoring Program (CEMP) to further monitor the effects of fishing and harvesting of species in the area.

In July 2013, the CCAMLR held a meeting in Bremerhaven in Germany, to decide whether to turn the Ross Sea into an MPA. The deal failed due to Russia voting against it, citing uncertainty about whether the commission had the authority to establish a marine protected area.

On the 28th October 2016 at its annual meeting in Hobart, a Ross Sea marine park was finally declared by the CCAMLR, under an agreement signed by 24 countries and the European Union. It protects over 1.5 million square kilometres of sea, and is the world's largest.
